Halloween Costumes
Culture has always been a huge part of our world, but few really study cultures other than their own. Without specialized classes or reading about other cultures, the only way to really dive into another culture would be to visit there. The Oceanic or Pacific Island culture is an interesting, but comparatively small culture. Before the film Moana was released, Pacific Island culture was rarely represented in film. Disney went to high extents to ensure these people were accurately portrayed in the film. According to an article by Carla Herreria in the Huffington Post, Disney even “assembled a team of experts in Polynesian and Oceanic culture and arts known as the Oceanic Story Trust to consult with filmmakers and ensure that the film, though fictional, is as authentic as possible.” Obviously Disney is taking the appropriate steps to preserve this proud culture.
